first page.  In this very interactive workshop not only

first line, your first paragraph and other key areas of
your manuscript.  Mary will be working one-on-one with

Body Language on the Page
Month-long Workshop
www.Writeruniv.com

February 1 - 28, 2010

Non-verbal communication takes place whether you
think it is important or not.  On the page or off, we
possess underlying, unconscious mechanisms in our
brains that insist on evaluating everything about what
another person is doing: not just what they are
saying.  And we judge the other whether they say
anything or not.  As writers we can consciously
understand and use gestures and facial expressions
to reinforce what we are saying on the page.  Show
not tell.  Because all of us, and our characters, send
out non-verbal messages all of the time, determine
which messages are the ones you want your readers
to receive by which messages your characters use,

You'll learn:
*
What "tells" are and how to power them up
*Proxemics - maximizing the us of spatial relationships
*Facial signals and new ways of saying what you
mean
*Gestures - some subtle, some not
*Context - how to make the old clichés fresh by use of
context
*What are your legs betraying
*Why the eyes are so powerful a communicator
*How to create subtext using body language
*Cultural differences that can send very different
signals
*The differences between aggressive and defensive
body language
*Dominant and Submissive body signals
*Negative body messages
*Open, closed or relaxed positions
*Attentive body language
*Power body language
*Leadership body messages
*Reading deception through body language
*Non-verbal greetings

We'll also explore some of the body postures, moves
and gestures that differentiate male and female
actions and why.  So f you are not sure your
character's eyes, face, smiles, head, shoulders, torso,
arms, legs and even feet are portraying the message
you want on the page then its time to understand and
maximize the use of BODY LANGUAGE

MASTERING THE SHORT SYNOPSIS: For
Those Who Hate to Write Them
www.writersonlineclasses.com

May 10 - 24, 2010

This is a workshop for those who hate to write the 1-2
page synopsis, but want to understand what makes
them a selling tool in a writer's arsenal.  Writing a short
synopsis doesn't need to be painful.  Learn what editors
and agents look for in a well-crafted synopsis and what
makes them groan.  Templates will help you examine
your plots and see how they are translated into selling
synopses.  This two-week series of e-mail lectures,
homework assignments, examples and templates that
you can use time and again should have you looking,
thinking and writing the short synopsis in a whole new
way.

A series of 12 lectures with 9 templates for you to
analyze and extract the key components from your
manuscript that an editor/agent needs to see to
determine if the story is worth their time and attention.

Great for writers who:
*
Have never written a synopsis and don't know where to
turn
*Want to plot-proof their novel
*Lets you ask is everything in your story that needs to
be in your story
*Want a faster way to master the short synopsis time
and time again

In Addition:
Each student will receive an additional 102 page Lecture
Packet entitled:
SEVEN DEADLY SINS OF SYNOPSES.

In this packet you'll learn:

*The most oft repeated stumbling blocks found in
synopses and how to correct them
*Concrete examples of a wrong way and a better way to
get your information across
*Why the most common stumbling blocks occur in
synopses
*A check list of dos and dont's that can make a
difference in your final product

Find out if you are unknowingly causing issues with
editors and agents when they read your synopsis.  Don't
let your next synopsis trip you up -- avoid the seven
deadly sins of synopsis writing and you'll be well on your
way to getting your full manuscript into the hands of an
agent or editor.

So if you're ready to break through and learn how to
write a powerful, selling short-synopsis, don't wait any
longer
